I am quite new to using ajax and was wandering if this is possible:

have text regions on a website with a little edit icon above them. the user clicks the edit, enters a password and gets an edit box. the user edits the text region and hits save. now the website's text region is changed for anyone else going to the site.

that make any sense? is this possible?

thanks and sorry for the newbness (i tried looking it up on google, but all i could get is a session based edits and wouldn't save the changes)

Yes it does, and yes it is. It sounds similar to the Red Dot CMS.

You'd need to have a server-side environment in place to accept changes, and be able to somehow identity each section of a page, so it knew what content it was updating.
