I have a customer setup in a 2 site SCN with Centralized VM Pro. There is a Backup VM Pro as well. This site has been up and working for about a year but the customer just recently started having problems with their greetings not updating. I built a shortcode that points to a RECORDING VM Pro Module. They get into it just fine and follow the prompts to record and submit the greeting, but it does not save the new recording.

I have another site with the same exact setup and they claim they have the same issue from time to time. Anyone else have this problem and what is the fix? I tried stopping the VM Pro service on the backup VM Pro server and am waiting for the customer to respond to see if they were successful in updating the greeting or not.

Usually the problem is that they don't press 3 to save when RECORDING.

Guess the only way to find out is to do a trace on VM Pro to see if they actually saved it, and might also say if not, why.

I have to agree with Janni
almost certainly they are not pressing 3
the problem is the cust listens to the original prompt as far as press 2 to record, presses 2 before the prompt has completed & thinks that pressing 2 after they have finished recording is enough.

Watch them doing it in SSA, that shows the digits dialled, or run the continuous log then play it back :)

As I recall, when I've used this to record greetings the name of the file had to be nameoffile.WAV wav had to be capital or it would not work. and the file to be used had to be .WAV also.

If you have recently upgraded this there does seem to be issues with permissions in the recording directory's now. We uploaded some .wav files and were unable to use the edit play list command until we changed the permissions. The one we had issues with was a 10.0 sp4 SE select

Where did you upload the files?
You're supposed to have custom files in the CustomPrompts directory as that is the only one you have write-access to as default.

People still install brand new UC modules? Those things are an abonimation in my book never once seen a happy customer with one of those.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

The permission issue is also on the Windows version.

You have IP Offices with public IPs or that are accessable from the internet?

The c110 module now behaves itself quite reasonably (certainly on V9.1 & above) the days of SSD corruption are fortunately long gone & even 8.1 systems are fine if they have been fully upgraded.

that said I would not recommend one for a high usage site.
The again I would not recomend a windows server either unless there was absolutely no option
