Heres the error:

Warning: fopen(/home/berehosp/public_html/albums/albumdb.dat.lock): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/berehosp/public_html/modules/gallery/platform/fs_unix.php on line 55
Error: Could not open lock file (/home/berehosp/public_html/albums/albumdb.dat.lock)!

----

Gallery version: 1.4.2
Operating system: Unix

Who is the owner of the lock file?
What are the permissions on the file?

Obviously the user under which the PHP runs has no privileges on the specific file.

i have full permissions to the file.

I am the owner.
644 as the manager has set them.

You may have full permissions, but the process that runs your web server (and therefore PHP), probably does not.

The site has been up for over a year and we have just recently ran into this problem. The gallery was working until recently when that error showed up at the top of the page. So php must have had some sort of permission to use it b4

Then the question is:
Did the server setup change? Was PHP upgraded?

its possiable but i am not sure.

Thats what another forum said but changinging what they said to change didn't work

Have you contacted your server administrator about the problem?
Since this is a UNIX based system there should be some log (e.g. syslog) which records when the access was denied. Tracking it down that way can reveal the first instance when it happened and help with pin pointing the problem.
