The first time Edit/Find is used, it takes 17 seconds for the Find and Replace box to appear. With subsequent attempts, the box appears almost instantly. Any tips? Thanks.

Is this when you first hover on the 'Edit' menu option?
If so, have you tried to click on the arrows at the bottom of the drop-down menu so that it will display all the options available? Try that.

Thanks Matt, but I may have to replace this (upgraded) 100MHz computer to eliminate this odd problem. The reluctant dialog box is "Find and Replace".

Uh. Yes, Brad00. LOL

However! Have you tried renaming your normal.dot file? In the FAQs, I have a "total troubleshooting" FAQ for Microsoft Word. If you're using 6.0, give me a shout and I'll edit the troubleshooter for you to apply to that version. dreamboat@nni.com

Dreamboat - Thanks for your advice.....although renaming the normal.dot file did not affect this minor problem, your FAQ is excellent, and I'll try out some of the other things when I can in a few days. - will post the results if successful.
