Edit Control - make a tooltip appear when hovering over it

I have devised a timesheet system and I allow users to enter up to 64,000 characters in the Notes field alongside their entries. Obviously I do not have the notes field wide enough to look and read all 64000 characters, but would like a tool tip to appear with the content of the notes field when the user hovers over it. Can this be done?

i dont get it, tool tips are only a small description, do u want to display the entire notes in tool tip?

Known is handfull, Unknown is worldfull

Yes I want to display the entire content of the notes field in a tool tip by hovering over the control.

Tool tips can be quite long!

Tool tips probably have a limit, can't remember the magic number, 187 or sumthin??

Anyway you'd be better off using something like overLib,

u can but this will take ur entire page... the trick is to use layers... show/hide them according to ur wish... by this way u can have colorful tool tips (logn ones i doubt cause the scroll may not appear)...

No way 64000 chars are going to fit in a small tooltip and even if they do the user has about 2-4 seconds to read them.

Not a wise idea. Why don't you have a small icon that opens up a new window or a layer if they want to see the whole 64000 chars.

64k is the maximum, but nobody is really going to be typing that many notes, it's just that the field is quite small in relative terms to the amount of data going in.
