Is there a way to edit the captured bill for a dependent order? I'm running 7.6.300 and I haven't found a way to do this. It seems that the actual production order record for the dependent production order doesn't get created until I release the main production order, and at this point, I don't have an option to edit the captured bill for the dependent order.

Thanks for any advice you might have (and yes, I know I need to upgrade to a newer version:)

There is nothing wrong with 7.6.300. I lose it when people are still running 7.5.anything, or 76100/76200.

You should be able to unrelease the POP order and edit the captured bill and re-release it, although I have never tried this on a dependent order. Give this a shot and let us know your results.

Interestingly enough, I tried to unrelease the dependent order, and got a "nothing in range" message when entering the dependent production order number.

Another odd thing is that I actually went into the POP Setup and unchecked the "release dependent orders" checkbox before I released the master production order and it released the dependent order when I released the master order anyway.

Now, when I go into the Manual Production Order Entry screen, I'm able to pull up the dependent production order and it says it is in "printed" status.

I can't unrelease the dependent order, so I guess the only option is for me to unrelease the master order which will delete the dependent order, then edit the BOM for the dependent order before releasing the master order.

It seems that there would be an easier way to edit the BOM for that dependent order without having to go through that process. Is this something that might be available in the newer versions of Macola?

You can not maintain a dependant work order. Exact has a "reason" they do not let you do this. We typically suggest that if a lower level items captured bill will be changed frequently that you manually release the WO or if you have MRP, it will schedule the componet and you will not need to rely on the dependant order. If you don't have MRP, write a crystal report to id the manufactured items and use that to release the WO's. The shortage report only tells you that have one, not if it is a purchsed or manufactured item. The ability to run the shortage report by purchased or manufactured item types would be useful.

As for the observation on the POP setup check box that is or should be a bug. The release screen seems to have that populated with a "Y" flag reguardless of the POP setting.
