I recently took over all EDI responsibilities after having been an analyst for several years. Unfortunately the previous EDI Administrator was not happy to be "demoted" and is reluctant to part with information and just flat out didn't know how to do other things so I am left to just figure some things out as I go along.

My question is how can I find additional training? We are currently using Inovis TLi and I've attended their classes but there's so much more I want to learn such as user exit programs and more on report options. Do I have to hire a consultant? I'm not really talking about general EDI but more specialized information.

How did everyone gain their knowledge if they didn't have a mentor or someone else to guide them along and answer questions?

I would engage Inovis about advanced training options. Most of what I've learned was through trail and error. Look for user groups in your area and other meetings/conferences that might be happening. Here is a good site for some resources:

Hope that helps.
