EDI Consulting Rate - Too high?

Hi,

I am wondering what is the accepted EDI consulting price/hr for EDI map consulting. Our EDI vendor has raised their EDI consulting rate to 200/hr for map development/problem resolution which I think is too much. Am I out in left field by thinking my company is being fleeced?

Rates may vary depending on the industry you're in, the translation/mapping tool you have and the kind of support you're requesting. Also keep in mind that a large software/consulting company is going to charge more for overhead/profit. Without more details, there's no good answer to your question.

I agree with EDISMW52, it depends heavily on the product, market, the consultant/company and even the expected project life. You can count on paying $200/hr for anyone even remotely affiliated with a software vendor like Peregrine or Sterling. Large consulting companies like E&Y, Accenture and the like can easily cost even more. Short-term or per-map = higher rate. More specialized (like SAP) = higher rate.

Smaller consulting companies generally charge less, $80 - $150, for example. Independent consultants (like myself) can charge anywhere from approx. $60 to $135.

Can you give us some specifics?
