I have a bit of an issue with an upgrade I have to do.I am adding 2 IPE modules to a dc switch, to do this I need to disconnect the power and pull the greenfield and power cables all the way out of the existing modules because the greenfield the power is in is wider then the opening on the modules, and can't be slid in or out.Not that big of a problem, except I have to power down core 0 column, I can not do a datadump on this core. Core 1, does not have a security dongle on it, believe it or not, so obviously this can not do a dump either. I inherited this site like this, I have no idea who would not put the dongle on, my thoughts are someone replaced the ioudc and never took it off the old one.I already pulled a printout of everything I can think of so I can manually put in whatever changes were made since who knows how long ( can't do a DAT either). I am going to INI the switch to see if that clears the EDD24, but I doubt it will help, it might just lose the data anyway with that. I amlooking for ideas of what I can do. I was thinking about cutting the new module a little so it can slide in, but I really can't be doing that.Thanks.

No dongle? No service! That second core needs to be sync'd to get a reliable backup going. You need to find that dongle and get this thing backed up before you do anything. You're going to need help from a vendor to replace it, depending on the software you have. Good luck. I wouldn't power it down till then.

The dongle is no where to be found. Nortel will not give any dongles on this old release, it's 25.30. I know all about the problems I am going to have when powering down, I really dont have much of a choice.one column is voicemail, which is easy enough to power down and add, but they need the other IPE also.Gonna be alot of typing..for someone, I guess. Thanks.

I have the config.rec and database.rec. can I restore that database? Will it be the database the switch is on today, or is it from the lsat datadump? I was also able to do a ABKO.

As long as you have your keycode sheet, the original "system" install CD's, and the BKO, you should be okay. You can run on one core like an older 51, and keep the other core as a crash kit.

Thanks, this place is so old, all install disks are missing. I downloaded some files from nortel, I said before it was 25.30, but it is 24.25. I have 24.25 workfile and 24.25 install .exe file. I have to get keycodes from nortel site as well. I guess I need some sort of ISO file to burn to a cd..is that the 24.25 exe file? I was wondering if I can just power down and then bring it back up and go into PDT and copy the config.rec and database.rec and all will be good..am I wrong about that? LL in PDT also showed me a date of feb 2009 for the config.rec and database.rec and it had jan 2009 for the config.bak and database.bak, was one of those dates when the last backup was done?

Yes, you have good records, and they are backups, but you should re-install from a CD only, and patch the machine to current levels. Depending on the number of ports and config, you might want to pick up an existing 3.0 or 4.0 system on the net and rebuild it on the wall to bring everything current. Get rid of the DC and use UPS's. If those batteries are older the 8 years, they are going to need a rebuild or replacement. That means down time for you. Replace it.
