it does not. If it doing that in your system, something is horribly wrong with the database, but it should not erase anything. Is the .edd command along, not working?

if you run an edd an get an error flagged up but are quite sure there is no issue and that you have adequate backup(s) to restore if needs be, then edd clr will clear the error flag and perform a backup. Obviously if this was flagging a corruption you are writing it to disk hence making sure you have whats needed to restore in case of an issue.
