EDC Processor woes

Same old song and dance. Some slick talking sales person comes in and talks the merchant into changing processors, and the "tech support" they offer knows nothing about how it is to be configured.

The processor in question is Cardnet. The tech support is telling me it should be setup as CES within EDC. Can any of you guys confirm this?

It's asking for a IP address to do over the internet, and they have no idea what to put there. The best I do was look on the processor sheet and see vxn.data.net listed, ping it, and use it's IP. But it's not working. To further complicate matters, there is something on the setup sheet mentioning FDC (though I don't even see how this one can be configured in Aloha for IP--all modem stuff).

v5.3.15

Thanks!

You have to enable first data IPN under configure. Then you need the CC DID. When you go into configure->processor->CES at the bottom left you will see a section for configuring the First Data IPN. It will be greyed out until you enable under Configure->First Data IPN (Just check the box in there). After that it should be easy as pie.

Ok, well, now I have similar problem with a different customer.

An existing Aloha customer was in the processor of transfering over to a new owenr today. The customer is on version 4.260. The processor the new customer has is Paymentech, but this is not an option for this version of Aloha. I was wondering if there was another processor on the list it could be configured as, or if maybe upgrading to 4.268 would help.

Not trying to sound rude here, since I appreciate the input and suggestions, but please don't respond merely saying that need to upgrade, unless you know for a fact that it's the only option at this point. The new owner knows he'll need an upgrade, and is planning on it. The situation is a little complicated by the fact that--unlike other processor swith-overs, where you can just leave the old one in tact until you get the upgrade--this is obviously a different business and bank account
altogether. So, any short term solution is better than what we have now (which is the system in spool down mode).

Not only that, but the processor is claiming that his records indicate this version should work.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I can not help. I have not worked with Aloha ver4 series. I came on board with 5.0 and above. I was working with Positouch's DOS versions during that era. And since Aloha was new to this area there was no reason for us to learn older versions because they didn't exist in this area. The short term solution you seek may be verifone machines, but I dunno. Good luck with this one.

Paymentech has to be set up on the Visanet platform for v4.2x.

Posrescue, thanks for the reply. Are you sure about this? I checked a new version of Aloha (5.3.15) just to take a look at how the fields were laid out, and amount of numbers given to me by Paymentech, as well as the length of them, don't seem to correspond directly to anything in the VISANET setup on 4.2x (technically, I can see where one or two of them would go, but not all). The Paymentech setup in 5.3 is very simple--just 3 fields. As opposed to many more needed for VISA. I will go into a little detail here, since I really need to figure this out.

(these aren't the actual account numbers, for security reasons, but similar)

On the setup sheet from Paymentech, I have the following:

PNS Merchant #: 000000038385
PNS Client Number: 8169

And there's also merchant numbers listed for each card type, not sure what they are for (for example, VISA/MC Merchant number: 434578839994).

(So, 3 distinct numbers really)

For VISANET, it requires the following:

Merchant number:
Aquirer Bin: (I have no number that resembles what these usually look like)
Agent number:
Terminal ID:

(4 distinct fields, basically)

So, basically, it looks like VISANET is requiring 4 fields, and I have at best, 3 numbers from the Paymentech setup sheet.

Any ideas? Thanks!

The key to this is that it has to set up on a Visanet platform on the processor end. In fact my form for this was titled "Visanet for Paymentech. I set up many of these back in the 4.2 days.

Try version 4.4. According to the AKB that is when it started supporting paymentech.

VISANET was the platform required, and it worked with the customers current version of Aloha (4.260). I just had to get someone on the phone from Paymentech Network Services that new what they were doing (which took about 10 phone calls). The key was a lot of the fields in the VISANET setup were all zeros.

Thanks for your help guys, I don't know what I would do without you.
