Echo

I have a pri and on some of my calls there is an echo, is this a system thing or a pri thing.

Digital sets or IP sets? There is a patch available for echo on phase 2 IP sets on the BCM/SRG. If the echo is being heard on digital sets, typically that's an indication of the PRI being too "hot". Sometimes increasing the buildout on the CSU will help address this issue.

Is it being experienced on all calls, local calls, long distance calls?

Seems like just some calls, on digital sets, i have personally heard it only a few times but had a user complain of it so needed to look into it. Could you explain in more detail the probable solution?

If you're using a DTI card with the internal CSU, check the line build out setting - it defaults to 0 db. I'd try setting it at -7.5db to start. I believe the setting is under Resources, Media Bay Modules, (Bus In Question, such as bus 7), then open that up and keep digging until you find T-1 parameters - you'll see Line Build Out (may be abbreviated as LBO).

Not sure if that's the exact path to that setting or not - but if you dig around, you'll find it.

Changing this setting may require the module to be reset - the system will prompt you if this is so. That will cause all active calls to be dropped, so you may want to do this early in the day or after hours, depending on how flexible your staff is.

This is kind of a crap shoot since it sounds like the problem is rather intermittent - if it's only one user, make sure that they aren't using an amplified headset, as the phone has a built in headset amplifier - I've run into that before as well.

Whoops - you're right. That's what I get for trying to remember things at night.

I would try 7.5 first and see if that helps, especially if the issue is happening on multiple sets. If it's just the one user complaining, then this may not have any effect.
