HI Guys

Wonder if anyone has any suggestions:

3300 on MCD 6. System as an anlaogue line connected which is a "permantant" houtline with no dial tone. So basically when you hit the Line key it opens the channel and you broadcast direct.

Works ok apart from really bad echo. Can't use the LMT because it's an open line. System has other analogue lines on which we could run the LMT on and copied the settings but made no difference.

We have tested accross the line with a test phone and when not on the system works fine. So definatley the 3300 not training it up correctly

Anyone else done similar etc? Any ideas?

When you say 'hit the line key' it opens the channel how then is it permanent? And is it going straight to internal or external broadcast?

I know its very different but we used to get feedback issues on Valcom PA's when the instigator of the call was in a place where there was a speaker which occaisionally manifested itself as echo.....so could it be the actual place where the kit is if its handsfree....just a thought.

So you are doing what we used to call an open line or hoot and holler line in the broker business. These lines can have different parameters then a normal analog CO line. Have you tried creating a seperate CO circuit descriptor for this line and playing with the settings like balance?

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

It is actually a valcom unit that is connected!

Sorry if I explained it wrong. The valcom is connected via an analogue trunk to the system. The users then have a key system key programmed on their ip phones with the trunk number against it. When they hit the key and the valcom opens the line they get echo.

It is not the positioning of the speaker as far as we can tell. We have tested the circuit with a test hone and don't get the echo.

Was yours connected to the Mitel via analogue trunk?

Loopylou that is my plan for this pm

WEll, it was Mitel but a very old one (Pentara (I think)not a 3300) and connected via a analog line though. It was the placing of the phone not the line in our case. Even using a system phone and handset would cause the trouble; we ended up taking the speaker out of the room where most of the pages were sent from and the customer put up with the problem in the few other cases.
