echo, chargen, time, and daytime services

Can someone tell me what the echo, chargen, time, and daytime services do? I am turning them off since they are security risks but what might I break when I do?
 
You most likely won't break anything. The last 2 give you time and stuff, and then close the session. It is a quick way to get time (but then again, we have the "date" command).
