We are running SQL Server 2000. Cognos Version 7 Build 809

Every so often we receive the following Error SQL Has exceeded 64K Limit.

Is this referring to the SQL stmt that is being executed?

If not Any thoughts?

This usually happens when upgrading reports from version 6-7.

In version 6.0 of the report, verify the filter and calculation definition statements. If there are many if..then..else statements based on a numeric column, it could be that Impromptu in version 7.0 has not defined the datatype in the same manner as version 6. Prior to the upgrade, try changing the end of the if..then..else statement to NULL. That is, make the statement read:

if (desired condition) then (value) else NULL

instead of

if (desired condition) then (value) else (0)

Changing to ELSE NULL should then have Impromptu 7.0 upgrade the report correctly.
