My company just installed a call accounting, ecas. Its already not recieving reports from one of the switches. I need to troubleshoot this with no idea of how it works. I was wondering if someone can guide me to a website or book. Any suggestions would be great.

You do mean you installed this software to report on an ip office?
Have you installed Delta server to collect the call data?
What exactly is the problem???

I have a total of three switches two ip office and one definity. The problem child is on one of the ip office switches which is at a remote site. We have delta server installed on the ip office systems. The problem I am having is that we run a report and no data is being reported from the remote site. I dont even know where to begin looking. I have training on swithes but nothing on call accounting. Do start troubleshooting at the database or the ip offce switch?

I would start by ensuring the delta server that's pointed at the switch in question is recording the correct data to the .csv file, and that the file is being written to the location you are expecting it to be - ie the location you've told the CAS to read it from. Next I would verify your CAS is collecting its data from that .csv file and not from some other location.

To do what Morrack says go to the delta server screen and make sure the log to file option is checked, the file path will be beside the check box, this is on the SMDR icon on th left hand side of the DS SCREEN

And then go to the location specified by that file path and take a look at the .csv file that should be there, make sure it contains the data you are expecting it to.

Ok, I see the file but still no report, I looked in the message log and brought up the technical messages. The message reads as follows:
Severity=Severe, Message Number=102, UserMessage=Contact your customer service rep,

Technical Message=Input record is too short (input record number 1of file C:ecas data\call collector\swid001\s0010cvo~fi),source file:
(c:\Program filesavaya\ecas\bin\\formats\g3net2r.fel:859

Module=felt001

Source= c:\endeavor\ecas\cdr\collection\pbx\formats\visualc++\felt32\misc.cpp

Looks like you are logging the wrong data. Under Event Viewer in DeltaServer do not select the "log to file" icon and tickbox, but rather go to the "SMDR" icon and set the path and tickbox there.

Morrack - You Are Good at what you do, that looks like it was the problem. But I have to ask why cant you have them both checked smdr and log to file?

And second how did you translate that log into unchecking file to log?
Again Thank You

You should be able to have both, but send the files to two different folders. ALSO, and this is cool for everyone else who may not have noticed it. I was just playing with delta server 4.0.35 and noticed there is now an option to output the SMDR records through the com port of the PC delta server is running on! And it works great! In fact, you can even output both to the .csv file and through the com port at the same time - God Bless you Avaya :) Us old telecom fogies do love our physical SMDR ports.

Peter

itech, forgot to thank you for the compliment, always appreciated. And I simply recognised the content of your file as the "log to file" output rather than the SMDR output data.

btw if you happen to be in Oklahoma or Texas I'm open to offers ;-)
