Aloha Ecard was working fine, then all of the sudden would not issue new cards.

Comm test from the back of house is working fine, and terminals show up online in the interface.

What's happening is when the client goes to issue a card, it's works fine up until the swipe the card. The first few times he tried to swipe a card, he got en error message saying "Card not for resell" (that's what they said, take it with a grain of salt). It would then remove the amount that was going to be used to put on the card, off the guest check.

Now, there is no error message. They claim it just says "processing" for a second, then more or less fails and takes the amount off the check.

They said they do not believe they are having a problems redeeming cards at the moment. Just issuing.

Rebooted the terminals and BOH.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

A2

Sorry, forgot to include that they tried a couple of cards, from a couple of different boxes they have in the office. Doesn't appear to be a bad card, in other words.

I have seen this before in my restaurant. I believe the full error message is "Card series not available for sale"... I cannot remember what the exact solution was, though.

A few things to verify...
1) Try selling and redeeming gift cards on the Master terminal, see if that will work
2)Check the Enterprise site... make sure the card series still exists and is active
3)Check the enterprise.ini file... should be located on the server at BOOTDRV\Aloha\Data\
in our file EnterpriseServer = efreq.alohaenterprise.com:9099 and
BOHServer = <insert server name here>:9099

The other settings in the enterprise.ini are CompanyID, Password, and StoreID which are unique to their establishment. I believe our EnterpriseServer variable begins with "efreq." because we use eFrequency as well. If your client is not using eFrequency, the EnterpriseServer argument may be different.

I would suggest your client open a support ticket on the Aloha Enterprise site. Usually they will dial in rather quickly and solve the issue.
