eCard/Membership Query.

hey yo,

i haven't posted here for bloody ages, how the devil is everyone! =]

i am trying to start a "buzz" about a band by operating an ingenius eCard scheme. basically what it would be is someone would send a card to three chums when he does that, he will be given a free membership to the bands members area(comps, merch, mp3s etc).

i want the details he entered to be saved in a database. where he can add new details, much like a forum, with pic profile and the like.

basically my idea is like this:

how would i go about getting the random 'malloyName' and 'passWord' sorted... is there some sort of built in generator or would i have to script my own?
