We have Arcserve 2000 advanced edition /SP4 and would like to backup Exchange 5.5 /SP4 on NT4/SP6 domain member server. Arcserve 2000 Exchange agent/SP4 is installed on the Exchange server.
During agent configuration we get " Failed to get the information for the specified account, EC=1314".
Domain Account to be used in the agent is configured as stated in the Backup agent release notes : "Administrators, Domain admin, Backup operator rights" group permissions (Domain admin is set as primary group), "Act as part of operating system, logon as a service ,logon locally" advanced user rights.
A local (exchange server) account was created with the same name and has been granted the same rights (Backup agent release notes): "Administrators, Backup operator rights" group permissions , "Act as part of operating system, logon as a service ,logon locally" advanced user rights.
Domain Account has been granted service account permissions at Organisation, site and configuration level in Exchange. Mailbox is not hidden.
Outlook client is installed and mailbox is initialised on the exchange server.
The server is a member server within the domain.
How do we get the agent configured ?

HI,

On the Exchange server, login locally to the server and not to the domain as the the account you have created....

then run the configuration...

cheers
speshalyst So it Shall be Written!
So it Shall be Done!!

Many Thanks, Speshalyst.

At least now we know why CA instructs for creating a local account on a member server...
