I'm trying to install the Arcserve Exchange backup agent. I get the above error message when trying to configure the agent. I have followed the instructions to the letter. I have also tried applying LO94975 and QO22840 but no better.

Cheers

Hello

I work with mike.

Exchange 2000 with sp3
The agent is v 7.1 build 414
No arcserve install

We have tried the Configuration FAQ but still get the same problem.

1.Is this Exchange 2000\ Exchange 5.5??
2.Is exchange on a member server\ DC?
3.If it is on a member server you need a local account to
configure the agent..

Please detail the steps u r taking to configure the agent.

OK here we go.

Installed Exchange 2000 on Windows 2000 advanced server setup as a DC.
Installed SP3 for Exchange.
Setup DBAgent user with mailbox and member of administrators, Backup operators and domain admins(primary).
Using local policy setting gave DBAgent 'logon as service', 'login as part of operting system' and 'logon locally'.
On client machine login as DBAgent and configure mailbox using outlook, send mail to my account, login as myself and reply.
On server run agent install and get afore mentioned error.
Install patches and still get error.

Is there anything we are doing wrong?

Cheers

Adam,

The procedure looks ok...
Is your exchange server called "SERVER" by any chance??

No its Called DC1. I have read in some places that you need a mapi client on the server (ie outlook) but microsoft don't recommend it. The FAQ on this site says not, could that be a problem? (we don't have one installed).

There is no such file on our system. I did however notice that the licence log file was telling me the product wasn't registered. Mike seems to think this doesn't effect the functionality of the software but i thought i had better check.

Where abouts should i find the exchverify.log?

Cheers
Adam

should be under dbaxchg folder
