EBCDIC to ASCII

Hello All,

I was wondering if you could help me?

I have downloaded a file from an EBCDIC based mainframe computer and I am trying to use a field on this file to compare with a field from a file that was created on an ASCII based PC. I have been having a hard time doing this. I am now trying to convert the EBCDIC values I need for the comparison to the equal ASCII value then will make the comparison.

Does anyone have any experience with this and could you help out.

It's VB solution, but it's not so hard to rewrite it to C++.
Warning: The source EBCDIC file format question is the other story. There are many commercial IBM to PC file convertors (search INet)...
