I haven't done this, but I have created Impromptu catalogs using ASCII files and the MS ASCII ODBC file driver. If you can locate an EDCDIC ODBC driver you can probably make it work. Or you could convert the EDCDIC files to ASCII and use the MS driver.

I used to use .csv files to open them up in excel and then save them as .dbf files, and then create catalogs, but they were for one time things. Not for daily production. CP

In the ODBC driver Client Access Express ODBC Setup (32-bit) +/- version 8 there is an option on the 'Translation' tab called 'Convert Binary data...' You can select this option and it then converts the Binary into ASCII. :->
