Right now the printers in my small office are set up to be shared on the network. For example, upstairs in one office, 3 computers share 1 printer on the network, but the printer is hooked up to only one of the computers. So, if the other users want to print, they have to turn on this central computer. To make is worse, I'm having some network glich where each time we shut down the computers and restart, you have to re-connect or re-setup the shared printer or else it will say "Access Denied; cannot connect".

Ideally I'd like to hook the printers up to the network so that each computer can use it without needing to start up the central computer. Can I just get a hub and hook it up that way? Or do I need some sort of network adapter for each printer?

To network your printers, each printer is going to need a NIC or an external NIC. You may also need a hub, depending on where your data outlets are located in relation to your printers. Do or do not, there is no try.

You could hook it up to a print server like a jet direct box. Network capable and the smarts to print what is dumped to it. Ed Fair
