Easy way to make table data read-only?

Is there a simple way to make the table data read-only once entered, or do I need to delve into the security model?

You can make any form read only, but you cannot make a table read only without the security model.
But then you should not be showing the users the tables.

Another way is to have all of your data in multipl back end db with links into a front end db and set the file access permissions on each of the back ends.
