I have just acquired a SuperStack II 3300 switch from my employer. I want to access the switch using the console port. I am using a standard null modem cable (db9/db9) and I am connecting to a Windows 2000 Professional workstation through the serial port. I have attempted to use Hyperterminal with the following settings:

Baud: 9600
Bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop Bits: 1
Flow Control: None

My problem is this....

I start Hyperterminal and then power up the switch. However, nothing happens. I do not get any prompts for username or anything. What am I doing wrong?

Note: The switch seems to work fine. Game Over, Man!

Problem Solved!

It turns out that my cable was not the "null modem" type. Once I changed to the proper cable, all worked fine. Sorry for Extra Newbie mistake :{ Game Over, Man!
