I have a webpage with 4 links on them. One of them has this behind the link:

<area shape="rect" coords="335,351,542,389" href="file:///C:/Program%20Files/.......

When I click on this link, a pop-up box comes up and asks:

"you are downloading the file..would you like to open or save this to your computer?"...

How can I disable this msg??

Thanks for any help and ideas..

Uncheck the box that says "Always ask before opening this type of file"

If, however, you're asking how you can force that message to not come up for people who click that link on your page.. the answer is you cannot. Imagine how much wierd stuff you'd be finding on your hard drive if it WAS possible..

Posting code? Wrap it with code tags: [ignore]
Code:
[/ignore][code]CodeHere
[ignore][/code][/ignore].

One more question tho...what makes it pop-up that box? is it because it's "href=file:///..." ?

Hi mate,

The reason you see the security dialog is because the browser doesn't know how to handle the file. If the file extension is unknown to the browser then it will attempt to download it.

Hope this helps
