I've built some cool Flash pages, but they take forever to load if the Flash plugin is not installed on the target browser. Is there a script that can check for the plugin, and then redirect (or begin downloading) it on page load? It takes about 2 minutes for the page to finish loading and then finally the Macromedia installer pops up.

If you publish your Flash using FILE > PUBLISH it will insert code into your HTML which will redirect to the download page if there is no Player installed on the user's machine.

The redirect seems to be working. It just takes forever. It acts like it wants to load my entire page before checking for the Flash Player.

My file -> Publish is set to publish HTML & Flash files. Using Dreamweaver I did an insert -> Media -> Flash and chose my .swf file. Should I have used the HTML file that Flash Created instead?

I don't think so - Dreamweaver should create much the same code. If there is no FlashPlayer Plugin on the machine trying to access your page, NONE of the SWF will load. The rest of your HTML page will still load, and if you have a lot of graphics, etc. in the HTML that might be the cause of the wait. Other than that, you'll just have to bear with it.
