I need to set up a new door phone on a Magix system at my house and after reading every post I could find on this site I am still a bit confused on exactly what I need.

I have plenty of ports available on 412 card or 016 etr card.

I believe after reading posts I want to purchase the Viking over the Avaya door phone.

If possible I would love to be able to ring all extensions in the house. 15+ ext.

After looking at Vikings site I like the E-40 door phone the best. I have read the install instructions and I comprehend about everything except... installing on a C.O. line or analog station.

I believe the analog station would be to change one of my 016 ETR port to T/R. But I am not sure what a C.O. port is? Can this door phone use a line on the 412 card?

Wow... after all that, I guess I am ask if anyone out there has a similiar door phone working on a Magix system. I do not have the knowledge at this point to re-invent the wheel.

Thanks Brett

use line port on your Magix 412 & then just add that line to all the sets, so you will know someone is at the door, it will ring all the ones you want to ring

I'll generate the basic steps needed to connect a door phone to the Magix using the 016 ETR module.

1) Configure 2 ports on the ETR module as T/R.
2) Designate the extension that you will plug the door phone into as a "Hotline" extension
3) Using "Personal Speed Dial", program the first port to ring the 2nd port when the button on the door phone is pressed.
4) Connect the 2nd T/R port to any open line port on the 412TDL.
5) Program a button for that line on each telephone in the house.

I think I've listed all the basics.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

What release of Magix do you have? If it is 3.0, you can use the Group Ring feature to put your extensions in a calling group, set it as Group Ring, and set the hotline destination of the Viking door phone to dial the group. Only one single line extension is needed, and no CO ports.

The processor is 4.0 release R4.7 will that work also?

Thanks for the help... I will get the door phone on the way.

Brett

most of the house ,that I have put these in , we have used an unused line port ,as you do not need a active telephone line to make it work .and it makes it easy for the customer to use & to call to
In a business I can see a hotline being used, but an residence it easier with a line port to identify as the door, an to call you just press the line button to call back to the door, with a hotline you need to dial the station from the sa
