My office is expanding into the office next door. The server room is about 60 yards away. We need one data cable and 3 phone lines in the new space. One option is to run a few new cables from the punch-down into the new office through the walls and ceilings. Not easy or fun to do.
I know we could run a cable from the closest router through the ceiling to get a computer going in there. Is there any way to do something similar for the phone? If I have an open phone jack already connected to the server room could I just extend it another 10 yards for the phone? Would you simply yank it out of the wall and splice/patch cable it? Our company is not the least concerned about aesthetics, I just have to get the phones in there going.
