Hi,

I just purchased an SMC7004ABR 4 port router and have followed the setup instructions carefully. I am connecting to Earthlink through an ARESCOM NetDSL 800 external modem. The router shows all connections on the LAN side to be ok, and each internal machine shows up in the status window. When I connect the router and modem the WAN light also shows up on the router, and the LAN light blinks on my modem. After configuring the router to use PPPoE and entering username and password, I restart both devices, and I can see that the router is communicating to the modem (LAN on modem light blinks about once every 2 seconds). In addition, the ACT light blinks intermittently on the modem, leading me to believe that the modem is communicating with Earthlink, but not logging in properly. I spoke to Earthlink and double checked logon and password, but still no luck connecting. Any ideas? I'm getting a little desperate!

Is this a static or a dynamic ip address? Has earthlink verified the username and password? Who is your local DSL provider do they see you active on the DSLAM? Jeter@LasVegas.com
