EAPS rings causing network problems

Anyone else use EAPS? I have setup it up correctly and had a weird issue that was causing many network problems (disconnects, really high ping times, etc...) After extensive troubleshooting with extreme, we couldn't find the problem. I ended up disconnecting all three EAPS rings, and plugging them in one by one. THe problems disappeared and now everything is great. It was definatly related to EAPS, THe EAPS was properly setup because 2 extreme engineers looked at the config and it was fine. Plus, the commmand "check eaps config" passed on all the edge switches.

Perhaps a timing, or clocking issue corrupted the eaps ring? Any ideas from anyone?

Which EW version are you using ?
How many rings ? are they independent rings ?
Are you using "shared ports" then?

I have configured EAPS in some Extreme chassis (Alpine & Summits) and i haven´t had any problem like this ?

It sounds like a Layer 2 loop..maybe you forgot to configure something in EAPS protocol

Check the ring status over the EAPS Master with "show eaps detail"..it must be COMPLETE when all the links are connected

well the extreme engineer built the EAPS rings. They are 3 seperate rings. and the EAPS config on each switch was triple checked and verified to be correct, including the master. Unplugging all 3 rings and plugging them back in, one at a time, fixed the issue. The network has been running stable since that was done and no problems have surfaced since.

Extreme couldn't find the problem and I believe it to be a glitch on the 2 x450 core switches that was causing the problem. Something was out of sync.

What version of code are you running.

There is a bug in the code with the older versions.
