Hi

I'd like to know if it's possible to block directories for
certain users on local disk drive.
I.e. - when a certain window user enters I 'd like him to see only part of the local drive. Whereas other usr can see all dircetories.
OS: Windows 98
And we have Novell login as well (or "instead", whatever u say)

Thanks in advance

Please can you give your reasons for wanting to do this?? You won't on Win98, maybe on NT but it is a bit of a faff. -----------------------------------------------------

There is one person that usually uses this computer, but once in a while there's someone else instead that working on it and should not have access to some stuff, in order not to read/change/damage it by mistake or not.
That was the reason.
Now, I do need it in Windows98, but I should mention that I we log-in here through Novell password (not windows, or maybe it's automatically in windows), so I guess it is possible to block stuff using Novell features, regardless of the OS???
(It's WIN98, not WIN NT)

Thanks

The answer to your question is: NO. If you have stuff on there that you don't want people to access, store it on your server and restrict it so that only the users you want to have access have access.

You cannot restrict directory access using Windows 98, you have a chance with Windows NT and higher, but it is honestly not worth it as it is an administration nightmare. -----------------------------------------------------

Go to Windows 2000 or NT 4 Workstation on the machines. This will allow you to do what you want.

What about the NDS?
I rea about it, and understood u can limit access to files and directories through it (Novell Service).
Do u still need Novell+Windows NT/2000 for it? Windows98 won't do?
I'm trying my best.........:)

I stil think it would be a nightmare to administrate -----------------------------------------------------

I don't want our administrator to have nightmare because of me.
