E911 question

I have a bunch of schools that have only 2 POTS lines and they are busy most of the time. They are concerened that if the lines are busy they will not be able to dial 911. Does anyone know if there is a way to build a short code to disconnect all calls and free up the lines or some other way to free up a line to make the call. I am pretty sure there isnt anything but i wanted to ask.

I don't think so either. You could use external relay contacts in the IP Office to open up 1 or all lines to disconnect calls. That would take some Jury riggin.
If they have digital phones, not SLT's.
Create an all page short code and announce to them that you have an emergency 911 call and get off the line immediately.

I don't see any way around it... Unless you find a way to run a script to Call Steal and Clear Call on every extension when the user dial 911. Maybe in the run VBScript action in VMPro but i think it's too limited.

Of if you find the "free format" command for Call Steal and Clear Call, you could chain the action, for every extension, in a call flow using the 'Generic Action' action when the user dials 911.

If anyone could provide a list of all 'Free format' commands, just point me to a link ) Greatly apreciated.

Thanks for your answers. I will keep looking. I do not think it will be easy even if i do find something. I may have to tell them to use the fax machine in this case.

Just thinking with you here.

Iff the Fax is outside the IPO why not let this one go trough the IPO.
En the line on a different channel.
Then create a shortcut with the 911 and point to the same channel.

If they have xx10 or XX20 phones, Line appearance. Intrude, ask callers to clear down, make call.

They are all 5602 phones but adding the fax line in and only using it for 911 is an option. Thanks for all your help.
