For the most effective setup you really should have separate trunks dedicated for this type of usage. For example, one of our sites has a r7.0 Legend with a PRI pool (891) as the first option for PSTN access. Then we have a POTS pool (70) as the second option in case the PRI is down or all busy.
But the N11 Output Table 20 is defined as having the POTS pool (70) as being the first and only option. That way directory assistance, emergency calls, etc. all will go out of the analog trunks first and foremost.
For regulatory compliance it's also advised to have Merlin Legend cards that have at least one PFT port so that a trunk would be accessible in the event of power failure for accessing the PSTN.
Do you know how to define pools in the ARS tables?
That's not quite what I was asking. We need to use T1-PRI for E911 outbound. And I'm trying to find-out if the legend R6/R7 will support the transmitting of the extension # on the PRI channel.
The Number to Send option for PRI will designate a calling number to be sent per PRI channel. But I can't see how you could consistently send a certain extension number with this feature. The same extension would have to hit the same line in the pool defined with that particular Number to Send.
What you could do is ensure that the main telephone number is programmed on all of the PRI channels in the Number to Send field. That way when the ARS pool is accessed the E911 receiver will see the transmitted telephone number.
Go through SysProgram-->LinesTrunks-->PRI-->NumbrtoSend to define these for each PRI channel. As long as those channels are members of the appropriate ARS pool for hitting the N11 table you should be fine. Legend does support this feature I can tell you. We use it every day.
