Still having problems with this Exchange 2000 restore, but I think I'm getting close. I'm at the point where my exchange server is set back up, the Info stores are dismounted, the databases are marked that they can be overwritten. However, when I go to restore the exchange databases I receive "E8603 Failed to write to database. (DBNAME=First Storage Group\D:\EXCHSRVR\mdbdata\priv1.edb, EC=Backup Agent Error -- (318) "Can not get the information from Registry".)".

I haven't been able to find anything on the 318. Has anyone else seen this?

is the registry the absolute same as the old exchange server you did the backups off?

Also, I found something on 318 saying that they didn't use the latest version of the exchange agent. What build of exchange agent did you use? Only build 394 and 414 support exchange 2000. This can be found under the arcserve key in the registry, just expand dsagent all the way to the bottom and you should see the build number of dbexch.

hope this helps,

g
