Currently running Arcserve 2000 to backup our Exchange Servers. (NT4SP6, 5.5, ArcSP4) Had some problems restoring to start off with but have managed to overcome these. However, in the job log I am getting:

E8602 failed to read from databse (DBNAME = EC = Backup Agent Error -- (301) ''Exchange Server Error. HrBackupPrepare error.

It it still completing the backup and we are able to do a restore with no problems. However any advice on this error message would be appreciated.

Many Thanks.

Thanks for replying ...

Yes, the IS uses the same account as the job security.

you often get HrBackupPrepare if you have circular logging on and your trying to do an incremental (or differential) backup. Or If your last full backup of the exchange server failed, your incremental (or differential) backup will also fail giving this message.

In any event, this message is telling you that your Exchange server's Information Store is not getting backed up.

Thanks for the reply.

You're 100% positive ? Because initially we were having problems restoring via Arcserve we spent a lot of time looking into this. We have 3 Exchange Servers so once we got over the problems we were having we done a restore on our Test Exchange Server of all 3 Exchange Servers and all of them were successfull and the above above message I posted was on all the job logs of the Backups we restored ???

Thanks

Thanks - I tried searching for this on the CA site (looks like I got to improve my searching) !!

Possibility 2 sorted it out !!
