E8602 Failed to read from database. (DBNAME=SRS Storage, EC=Backup Agent Error -- (356) "Exchange Server Error. HrESEBackupSetup failed. Mount the databases before backup. Check Backup Agent Activity Log".)
this error is occuring on a W2K server SP1 with exchange 2000 SP2 installed. the exchange server is the only one on the domain. any help much appreciated as i can find nothing in the CA knowledge base regarding this issue

Apply sp3 to arcserve and the exchange agent, then apply the patch qo06202.caz.

This should solve it, if not then let us know how it goes.
