Hi guru's,

I've recently inherited a Digital Tru64 LAN with my new position. Although I'm a UNIX person at heart, this Tru64 is a frustrating experience.
They have ArcServeIT 6.61 Client agent running on the Unix boxes, connecting to a NT 4.0 Terminal Server. All via Fiber. The problem is that the backups that run on the UNIX box (specifically the mail server) appear to complete, however state "Backup Fail-Error E8524".
I've been given 6 more working days to rectify the situation. The CA website has nothing to offer in the way of help. Shouldn't they know what the error codes mean?

Did you check the Tru64 agent compatibility for ARcserve 6.61 on

http://support.ca.com/techbases/as2000/ntcompmat.html

Can the fibre environment be the cause ??

Thanks for kickin my brain juice into the basic step of verifying versions. It appears I actually have Client Agent V6.61 for Unix revision 4/30/99. But when I look at the uagent it's showing version v5.0.0. I'm going through that site you sent now, but haven't quite found anything about uagent versions needing to match the client versions. This would make sense though.
