I am going insane! I cannot seem to resolve this error: "E6305 - Problem with the current SCSI Port Handle, forced to use the original port handle. ABSL 2010.", even with tech support help from CA. I have built two servers and I have even been able to replicate the error on both (one is a Dell, the other an IBM X series 330).
I am running a Win2K Server with SP2, ArcServe 2k AE and the Tape Library Option with SP3 and related patches. My server is connected, via an Adaptec 2944UW PCI SCSI host adapter card, to an ADIC Scalar 218m (dual DLT 8000 drives). All SCSI connections have been verified by ADIC and are functional. I have replaced the Adaptec card, provided by ADIC, as well. The latest Adaptec driver and BIOS have been installed. I have even updated the BIOS on the server's motherboard.
In Device Manager, I have disabled the Medium Changer and each of the Tape Drives to prevent Win2k's drivers from loading. There are no hardware conflicts to report. In Event Viewer, no errors appear in any of the logs. I am able to run a backup, restore, mount, dismount, etc., successfully in ArcServe 2000. I have even gone so far as to test these processes in Win2k's backup utility and was successful with no errors.
Since NT is not reporting any errors, I am convinced that it is an issue with ArcServe 2000 or the TLO. The E6305 error is continuously reported in ArcServe's Activity Log and is the only one I receive. I have requested that ADIC send to me new replacement SCSI cables tomorrow morning to see if this eliminates the error.
Does anyone have any ideas? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you!
