Backups completes about 50% before in cancels with a E6300 error. I've checked tape drive firmware, hard drive and everything seemed to be updated, even update ArcServe but continue to get errors.
I am not saying that the item below will cure your problem, but check your tapes. Many a time, tape problems translate into hardware problems, though your hardware may not be the problem. The fact that 50% of your stuff is backed up, one or more tapes may be at fault.
