Hi,

I previously had some database corruption stopping jobs. I fixed that (with this forums help) by running the dbcheck and keybuild tools. Then I got NT SCSI errors. Disabled the Tape drive in Windows which solved that (thanks ARCserveGuru). Now after a few days of 100% complete backups I am getting the following on verify:

E6096- Media Error [ABSL:2030 CMD:8h]
E3713- Unable to read from media

I only get these messages once, then the verfiy carries on for a little while and then the backup job stops with a "Failed" status.

I am running Win2k Server SP2, ARCserve 2000 SP3 (soon to be SP4), HP LTO 9 slot autoloader. I was thinking firmware on the tape drive shoudl be updated but this used to work fine.

Does anyone have any ideas please?

Thanks,

Matt

Try cleaning the tape. If that does not work, it is possible that the tape itself is bad.

Thanks.

Sorry should have mentioned that I have cleaned the drive, and this happens on many tapes. New and old.

Thanks,

Matt

If the drive is under warranty, see if you can get it replaced--or at least serviced.
