I am running ARCserve 2000 AE version 7.0 (Build 1100) on a W2kAS. I have an internal DLT35/70. Whenever I try to perform a file/directory restore, I get the above stated error. This is a new event as restores have worked in the past. I have applied SP4, QO41394, and QO29368. The server has been rebooted, but we are still unable to restore. I am at a loss. Does anyone have any other ideas, suggestions, places to look, etc??

Thanks,
Mark Myers

Go into the ARCserve Device Manager window and then Group configuration. There might be two groups setup and the job is going to the wrong group. If this is the case just delete that extra group.

Sorry I did not mention that DavidMichel, I only have Group0 and the tape device is associated with that group.

Hi

Try to restore by sesstion and check if that works
1-Is this a local restore or remote?
2-If above question is remote, Are both servers in same domain?
3-What changes you have done before this problem happend?

This maybe related also to database Corruption:
-----------------------------------------------
Check the database directory are there rrAAAAAAAAAA files.
If yes you need to run database utilites to fix the database corruption,Or initilize the database for quick solution ,but you will loss your media pools & whenever you want to restore from any tape you need first to merge it to database before restore by file/dir.

If the problem still exist try to:
1-Stop the tape Engine
2-From registry delete the tapeengine Key
3-Re-run Device Configuration to recreate the above
tapeEngine Key
4-Start the tape Engine
5-Apply the latest tape Engine update from the link

If Restore by Media is selected does it should point to Group0.

Mohamdr is probably correct that it is due to corruption.

Does this happen even with a brand new backup?
