Hi Guys

I want to create a website for a client and also process credit/Debit card transactions for the items sold on the website. I have Html knowledge, what else do I need to get on with it.

Thanks for your help in advance.

For free e-commerce look at OSCommerce. Things like Actinic Catalogue are good too but have a bit of an outlay involved.

Actinics advantage is that you can download the orders and all the relevant details and then process the orders offline.

With both packages you can link to payment providers (Worldpay, SecPay, PayPal and NOCHEX for example).

OSCommerce is a bit harder to get to grips with but can have good results, Actinic tends to get expensive when you require extra features which you have to upgrade for.

I've used both and I must say I prefer Actinic overall but mainly for the fact you can download orders.

I'm actually going to start working on a cross between the two using PHP/MySQL with a VB back end, well, when I have the time that is!

Simplest thing that doesn't require too much programming is PayPal, also if you don't have a PHP/MySQL hosting, Paypal gives you the chance to work with a shopping cart hosted in their servers.
Go to the main site and look for the Developers link at the bottom of the page. There's a lot of info that you can use.

It may not be the best solution but since you are starting doing this, you may want to give it a try and then upgrade to something else once you get a hold of things.

you may want to take a look at Doesn't require elaborate programming skills, they just give you some scripts you can copy/paste in your website to use their shopping cart and cc processing services...
(sorry for posting so late... just found this)
