Anyone please help... I got this annoying problem with E2K and Outlook 2000 og 2002 clients.

I have setup both Internet E-mail accounts and Exchange-server account.
When I or some of the clients try to send an email to a non-exchange-user outside the E2K server e.g. an external e-mail address, it gets stuck in the Outbox.

I have the users access the E2K server via Internet on proxy ports entries to the Regedit. Ports are open and it has worked before - but it keeps taking longer and longer before an email in outbox leaves the system - sometimes it don't...

In event viewer I keep getting error ID5774 and ID5775 - saying it couldn't interpret the DNS - i've tried almost everything - please help...

Help will be very much appreciated.

Thank you,

One, do you have the Mail Exchanger entry setup in your DNS?

Also, this is kind of a problem for me as well. However, I just fixed it about 2 minutes ago. All of my outgoing emails to non-exchange server accounts outside this domain were not being sent, but instead were being stuck in the outgoing folder as you said. I changed my setting in outlook to send emails using a secure connection (still on port 25) and it works now.

However, my problem is when I tell it to receive using a secure connection (SSL), then it won't receive (I believe it's not even connecting) and I don't know why. It changes the port from 110 to 995, but even if I try to change it back to 110, it still won't work...if I tell it not to receive using a secure connection though, then it works.

Try changing your outgoing to use a secure connection and see if that works for you.

Hello Ovatvvon,
thanks for your reply. But using SSL on SMTP only did the situation worse - now it won't send anything at all... don't ask me why...

I'm also experiencing that when I'm connect With Outlook 2000 on the LAN it keeps receiving and marking the same mails as new mail (bold). If I force it to Send and Receive, for a while it only shows the same message one time. But after a little while the mail appears twice in my in-box and all of it are marked in bold...

any ideas? Have you had the problem also?

/Morten

Morten,
No, I haven't had that problem before. I'm pretty new to Exchange Server myself. Originally, it sounded a lot like my problem, but I guess not. I'm sorry I couldn't help. :-( -Ovatvvon :-Q

Hello Ovatvvon,
Thanks for trying.

This is also my first exchange setup. Otherwise all other things seems to work fine for me.
The strange thing is, that if I access the Exchange from home with a 56k modem connection using Office XP Pro-->Outlook XP i'm not having any problems at all....

Thought I just let you know...

Thanks,
Morten
