Hi,

Can anyone help me with sending an E-Mail directly from Access through Outlook. I`m currently using Access 97 and Outlook 98. I`ve tried the Sendobject command but don`t know how to go about letting the system know what to use as the mail system. Any help would be welcome.

I know theres probably a FAQ for this as well but couldn`t locate it.

Thanks in advance

Ian

I don't know why you'd necessarily want to use outlook for something simple but if you want to use outlook, add the Microsoft Outlook Object library to your code and use it.

Check out the help files in outlook contents tab Advanced Customization|Microsoft Outlook Visual Basic Reference

There you will find detailed information on how to manipulate Outlook automation.

Post again if you get stuck. JHall

Thanks JHall,

Thanks

Managed to get an E-Mail sent using the orignal code I had. The problem was to do with the settings of the computer I was on at the time.

With this in mind, the idea was to include the code in a database that is used across the network. With some PCs having the link established between the software and others not I`ve started thinking along the lines of whether I can tell the system to go directly to the actual Mail system ( OpenMail Server) rather than via the Outlook system. The other problem I encountered with the outlook system is that the user can have their address book setting to have Surname either 1st or 2nd and so confuse the issue of addressing the E-Mail. Ay ideas?

Are you running either NT or Win2k? If so check out CDO (I think that's Collaborative Data Objects). It will give you direct access to your SMTP server. JHall
