OK I'm having a little problem with Outlook 2000. I have my server mailbox and personal folders and both personal address book and contacts folders.

The only problem is that the majority of my e-mails that are received have the sender in the format Last, First. Unfortunately from some senders they are listed as FIRST Last or maybe FIRST Last (e-mail).

Does anyone know of how to standardise all receivers display names in the inbox to Last, First. It's not urgent but I'd just be interested to know why Outlook does not display the names properly.

Thanks in advance
Chris

If you go to Tools->Options and then click on contact options, this will allow you to sort your contacts in the manner of First Last or Last First etc, then they should appear that way in the From filed in your inbox, provided you have them as a contact. If not then the name will be displayed what ever way the sender has choosen and there is nothing you can do about it, except manually open the email, double click on the senders email address, and you get a window where you can change the display name. Thanks for the reply but that didn't work :-(

I'd already checked those settings but am a bit stumped. I have no idea why I'm getting this problem but I might try deleting all of the e-mails from the particular sender and getting them to send me a test message.

OH!! found the answer!!

go to the Server itselft and go to Exchange Administrator. In here go to Tools and options, and in the first tab you will see the auto naming settings, change in here to what ever you want....this effects all mailboxes and incoming mails globally..... Jay~

Ta Keytech but that seems only to work for those people that have mailboxes on the server. Some external e-mails (not all) have problems with the display name. Very strange. X-)
