I am very, very new to Sharepoint as the admin for our local Intranet. All I have done is assign permissions and create a couple of new sites.

I've been asked to add a new site, post a form in Shared Documents folder on that site, and then, find a way to automatically e-mail a group of people when a form is completed. This may happen several times a day or not for weeks.

I can set up the site and post the form, but I'm not sure about the e-mail notification. Could I do that through work flow or an alert?

I do not have Designer...only MOSS and have limited permissions. If someone can help point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

You might want to look into using the alertme option for the library. Open the form library, go to Actions > Alert Me. This allows you to set up alerts with various options - when a new item is created, when an item is changed, etc. - and also when the notification should be sent - ie, immediately, daily, or weekly rollup. That may take care of what you need.

If not, you may want to use SharePoint Designer ( It is a free download from Microsoft and allows you create some workflows and also do some other types of customization.

Thanks for the response. I'll give it a whirl and see what I can do.
