e-mail address in Details Section Query

Hi

My knowledge of the workings of Goldmine is not great so I'm looking for some general information.

We have users (each with their own contact record) using Goldmine e-mail center, each contact record has their two e-mail address the company uses in the details section.

However some of their address appear in other customer contact records details tab, Should they be there? How could they have got there? the reason I ask this is because there are now unrelated e-mails on customer records history tab and I'm putting 2 and 2 together.

An explanation would be helpful

Because you mention that you are using the GM email center, I would say that it is a linking problem most likely. When you link an email to a record, at the bottom of the popup you have ability to link the sender's email address to a record. Of course, this option is selected by default.

One of the more common mistakes that I see is leaving that option checked while linking the record, thereby placing the sender's email address in the detail section of the record the email is being linked to. (Of course, the second problem is correctly linking the record.)

Unless you are using a third party application, you cannot import secondary email addresses into Goldmine (you can import a primary email though). The only way to get that detail record is either by manually creating it, linking an email, or using a third party utility (AKA GoldBox).

Based on those three methods, you can look at your user's habits to see which one of those areas you are having problems in. Michael Phipps
