I have 2 systems that seem wired right based on the book, but they still won't talk to each other. system A when you push 7 shows the line number come up (57 in this) but no dial tone from other end. System B displays no trunks available when I press 7, how do they need to be configured on each end? The trunk is set as an E&M trunk, auto answer, no disa..what else do I need to do?

Your asking alot with little info given. Need some history?? What systems do you have and how are you connecting them? What book are you refering to that you wired them by?

Are they wired like a crossover cable? Seems to me I remember them needing something like that.

Yes they are wired crossover, I will get teh versions of software tomorrow. Its something in the programming I am sure but I just keep missing something.

remember to set the E&M to wink-start and manual answer

Is this your copper between the 2 systems or is it Telcos?

They are 2 matching Norstars sitting side by side, customers cabling.

I use Wink Start Auto Answer in prgramming that way I can assign a target line to an extension. The wiring should be as follows.

Back-to-back cross-connections
1st distribution block T R T1 R1 E SG M SB
Next distribution block T1 R1 T R SB M SG E

The wiring is exactly that way, I have tried wink start auto and wink start manual. System A seizes the trunk but is getting no reply from system B, System B is giving no trunks available when you dial 7, nothing is using them though.

Just for testing put the Lines directly on 2 phones (1 in each system) don't use the 7. When you press the line button on phone 1 you should see it try to grab the line on the other phone also. Tell us what happens.

double check the line number at both ends, but sounds like B might not be accessing correct line. For A, is E&M card in second slot of mod 4 or 8? lines 57-64. Then make sure of settings, E&M,auto ans, ans with disa-no, no prime set on lines. Then set up target lines with prime sets.
