Dynamics GP <-> CRM Interfacing ?

I'm a 'newbie' to Dynamics GP, so please be 'gentle'....

I need to understand how to interface CRM to GP from a passing data to-and-fro perspective.

Obviously I will need to make this integration 'transparent' (automated) and not a manually executed operation.

I see in a variety of web references that something called an Integration Manager, but I don't know if that is one or more API's which can be called from the CRM to pass data back-and-forth or what.

Can someone start me looking in the right direction to get educated on how to make this work?

I would greatly appreciate and thank you in advance for any suggestions/advice you can provide.
